To Brighten Your Day

James 1:5-6 (ESV)If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. (I often feel like when I am struggling with depression, I am tossed by the waves of the sea!)

Hello Friends! Many times when I am discouraged, I will shut down and not talk or share what is happening in my head. I even "forget" to pick up my Bible which is the main source of where my HOPE will come in. Last year, I went through a rough season and really isolated myself from everyone, even the LORD. I tried to reach out to a few people but when I didn't get what I thought I was looking for, I went back into my shell of depression. NOT a good place to be! This brings me to my card today... I am not normally a person who loves yellow, but I thought it could BRIGHTEN up my day as well as the person who receives it.

To create this card, create a circle using Spellbinders or another circle cutter with white cardstock. Using the set Creative Worship: Words of Life- Actions Clear Stamp Set words from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps  stamp using Staz On Black Ink (or another waterproof ink.) I added a leaf and flower in between some of the words from the the Creative Worship: Living Word Clear Stamp Set image from Sweet & Sassy Stamps. These images are so FUN for creating backgrounds and Bible journaling beauty!

Once that has dried, grab out your Gelato crayons and scribble along the images. I used Metallic Mint, Passion Fruit and Lemon colors. Then take black cardstock and use the Big Shot to dry emboss using the Secret Garden to create the background. Using adhesive layer the So saffron cardstock on a bright yellow and the black cardstock. I had some scraps from another card (Raspberry splattered background see note below) and added them to draw the colors together. On a scrap of the So Saffron, stamp the word of choice (in this case, I used Believe) using Black ink. Adhere the cardstock pieces together and add your circle image to the top of all of the layers. Using some raspberry buttons, along with some gold sequins.

*Note: To create the raspberry background: use a magenta watercolor paint.  Just mix the paint with water and spread it on the cardstock.

This is such a bright and cheerful card. What is one of the things you go to most often for encouragement? The Word of God or something else?
