Gesso Explosion Birthday Card

Hi Everyone!!! This week, Kia said she wanted to challenge us to an EXPLOSION I looked up explosions on google for some inspiration and came up with so many neat pictures filled with color. Once I saw several, I had to figure out how I was going to create the look....

So here is what I did - I will share a tutorial on this later this week!
I used Watercolor paper and my Copic Markers - MANY, MANY colors - I drew random 'flicked" lines without any specific length and in different areas. Some lines were thicker than others - once I was done, I didn't like the way it looked, I thought it was too bold and full of color. I decided to take White Gesso Paint and put an overlay of paint on it and then I used the end of the paint brush to remove excess paint and allow the colors to shine through.

I hope you liked my project! Here are some pictures to show what you looked like as I worked te project.

Here are some more details... Once the background was completed, I used Versamark to stamp the Happy Birthday image from Art Neko. I used Watercolor Paper as my base and Not quite Navyish cardstock from Co'ordinations. I used the Chameleon and Copic Markers - LOTS of them!!! Of course, I painted on the Gesso Paint with a sponge brush and Versamark ink to stamp the words on the paper once it dried. I then sprinkled Navy Embossing powder over the top and heat set it with a Heat Tool. To finish the card, I used mini glue dots and sequins.

I just love the versatility of Art Neko stamps and this was a FUN card and technique to make. I hope you enjoyed it! THANK YOU for stopping by!
