Leaves and Children Silhouettes

Hi everyone!  My card is up on the Art Neko Galleries blog today, so please head over there to check it out.  I've created a fun card using fall stamps from Art NekoCheck out my card below first!

The Leaves

The leaves had a wonderful frolic.
They danced to the wind's loud song.
They whirled, and they floated, and scampered.
They circled and flew along.

The moon saw the little leaves dancing.
Each looked like a small brown bird.
The man in the moon smiled and listened.
And this is the song he heard.

The North Wind is calling, is calling,
And we must whirl round and round,
And then, when our dancing is ended,
We'll make a warm quilt for the ground.

Fall is my favorite time of year! This week, I know of a few schools starting. As a Home schooler, we started last week. I have been homeschooling since the fall of 1997 and have tried nearly every curriculum and style of home schooling there is. My son recently tagged me in a funny video about the types of home school Mom's out there and I honestly think I have been every kind of home school mom over the past 19 years. Now as a working Home School Mom, I am probably more lenient and have been paying others to come and teach or work with the children or I have even signed them up for more classes just to give myself a little relief. We have a system worked out and the kids are such a blessing as they help one another.

Todays project was made from a scrap Holly Brown sent to me. Holly stamped the Silhouettes of Children image in Black Staz On ink and then created her own Shimmer Mist with a sage ink refill. Then she must have sent the project aside and mailed it to me along with some other scraps she had. Honestly, it has sat in my office for about a year... Until today...

I was sitting at my desk and picked up the image and decided to create a project with it. I used the Circle Spellbinder dies and cut out her image. I then used the GORGEOUS Gold Leaves Paper on Black and cut it out in another circle. To save on this paper (it is SO PRETTY in person!!!) I cut out the center to create a smaller circle, so I can use it on another project. I mean REALLY!? Why waste beautiful papers when you can use them again and again. Right?

I layered these papers using dimensionals and then using the Big Shot, I added some polka dots using an embossing folder on a "not quite navy" Co'ordinations cardstock. Using the Big Shot, I then cut out the Doily Die with sage and black cardstock to create a shadow and make the die cut POP a little more. I added a strip along the bottom with the Gold Leaves Paper on Black   (so pretty!!!) and layered the background paper on black and sage cardstock. I added a little extra bling with the Onyx Gems.
